The best upcoming new TV shows we can’t wait to watch

We may have had to say goodbye to Stranger Things for another year, but the good news is that the second half of 2022 will see the release of some stunning new TV shows.
And when we say "new," we really mean it. All of the shows listed below are premiering on their respective streaming services.
We've decided not to include any TV shows that are getting new seasons, instead focusing on those that are debuting this year.
From serial killer dramas to dragons, Harfoots to wizards, here are ten upcoming television shows that we can't wait to see...

XEM THÊM :

The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power

The most expensive show ever made (Amazon has thrown billions at it) is based on the Lord of the Rings books' supplementary material. To avoid having to use any of the main LOTR characters, Amazon has wisely set this one thousands of years before the events of the books. Morfydd Clark leads a large cast that includes Lenny Henry and Peter Mullan. Elves, evil, and Harfoots are to be expected (the predecessors to Hobbits).

Release date: September 2nd

House Of The Dragon

This Game of Thrones prequel (based on George RR Martin's sprawling Fire & Blood series) is set approximately 200 years before the events of GoT and focuses on the warring factions in The House of Targaryen. The show stars Matt Smith, Emma D'Arcy, and Paddy Considine. HBO will be hoping that it has another mega-hit on its hands. We're hoping for a successful conclusion.

The release date is August 21st.

Sandman

Netflix is bringing one of the greatest graphic novels of all time to the small screen. Neil Gaiman and Blade's David S Goyer are both involved. Sandman is a complex entity, filled with stories about stories, about a wizard, the personification of dreams, who comes out of prison and tries to right a world that has been wronged since he was imprisoned. It has been deemed unfilmable by many. Dream is played by Tom Sturridge.
Lucifer is played by Gwendoline Christie, and Johanna Constantine is played by Jenna Coleman.

5 August is the release date.

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law

Marvel has recently used its TV shows to broaden its palette, with lesser-known superheroes such as Ms Marvel and Moon Knight running wild. She-Hulk is the latest superhero to be adapted for the small screen, and based on the first trailer, it appears to be a cross between Ally McBeal and, well, The Incredible Hulk. While it hasn't been confirmed, it appears that this one will be based on Dan Slott's comic-book series, which is bloody hilarious and focuses on the bizarre legal issues that the MCU raises. Tatiana Maslany plays the green-skinned Jennifer Walters, and Jameela Jamil plays Titania. Oh, and Mark Ruffalo makes an appearance or two.

The release date is August 17th.

Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet Of Curiosities

Guillermo del Toro is a master of horror and fantasy filmmaking, making him the ideal director for a Netflix anthology series dedicated to challenging the conventions of the genres he adores. He directs one episode, with the other episodes directed by a variety of fantastic filmmakers, including Ana Lily Amirpour, Jennifer Kent, and Panos Cosmatos. This one will give you a lot of nightmares.

October is the release date (TBC)

The Patient

We are big fans of The Americans, so when we heard that the showrunners Joel Fields and Joseph Weisberg were working on a new show, we let out a little squeal. This one is about a psychotherapist (Steve Carrell) who recently lost his wife and is being held captive by a serial killer (Domhnall Gleeson) who wants him to stop having suicidal thoughts.

The release date is August 30th.

The Midnight Club

For this adaptation of The Midnight Club books, Mike Flanagan collaborated with Leah Fong. It's based on Christopher Pike's YA novel about a group of terminally ill teenagers who meet up at midnight to tell each other scary stories. Strange things begin to happen when one of them dies. We have high hopes for this one, given his previous success adapting works by Stephen King, Edgar Allen Poe, and Shirley Jackson.
